When the windows are open, the kitchen curtains lift, allowing glimpses of the neighbourhood .... new houses in a well kept community, with gardens brim full of tropical exotics like Ixoras and Hibiscus where Hummingbirds dance, Papaya (called 'pawpaw' here) and the sorrel plant, tall swaying coconut palms and leafy pigeon peas plants attracting Cocricos, Tanagers and other bird species.

Whatty's holiday apartments are in the Sou Sou Lands development beside the villages of Carnbee and Mt.Pleasant. At Carnival time visitors enjoy two of Tobago's best steelbands in the neighbourhood - the Carib Dixieland panyard is in Mt.Pleasant and the champion team of Redemption Soundsetters is in Bethel. At night the mellow, sweet sounds of the steelband drift in with the breezes, luring visitors outdoors to join villagers at that happy and exciting time.

By day, the Caribbean Sea and fine golden sandy beaches are an easy 5 minute drive away - there are Grange beach, Mt. Irvine Bay and famous Buccoo with its coral reefs and extensive snorkeling and scuba dive sites. At Mt. Irvine there is a small reef just metres from the beach, plus the wreck of the Maverick for scuba diving.

Other neighbourhood activities include 'Sunday School' the sunday night street party held year round in the village of Buccoo.
